Reflecting & embracing the lessons learnt!

Hello 2019! GOOD-BYE 2018- WHAT A YEAR.

Now before I get my resolutions I want to focus on reflecting.

Sometimes we get so caught up in thinking about our goals, our visions and what we want to achieve that we forget to realise how far we’ve come and most importantly, what we’ve learnt along the way. It’s about the journey, after all.

ANYWAY! HERE’S A LITTLE 2018 RECAP FOR YOU. YOU KNOW in case you missed it.

• I took the leap and went full time YOGA bizz. WHICH HAS JUST BEEN SO MAJOR.

• TWO yoga retreats went down – my favourite thing in the world to share!

• Lots of incredible collaborations with brands that I truly, truly LOVE!

• My Instagram community grew; I’ve connected with SO many people, on an international scale, which is just INSANE!

Youtube videos happened.

• Public speaking happened.

• A LOT of travel: Rome, Tuscany, Bali, Barcelona, Paris, San Remo & Florence!

• Moved into my DREAM apartment.

• My blog got a full makeover.

• OH & podcasts, self-care and acro-yoga became a big part of my regime!

This year has been a whirlwind. It has been jampacked with hustling, traveling and investing (in myself). I’d be lying if I said it’s been easy. It’s been work. Hard work. That’s why taking time to time to think & reflect on the past year always helps embrace the lessons learnt….

1. Manifest

The process of Manifestation uses Universal Laws to bring your way whatever it is that you are intentionally (or unconsciously and unintentionally) attracting into your life.

You set an intention of what you want (intention is everything).

THEN you take action. Law of attraction<Law of action.

Listen, in December 2017 I strategically wrote down my goals and visions for 2018 and most importantly HOW I was going to achieve them. All of the above was in my list. Manifest. Believe. Action. Achieve. It works 10000% of the time.

2. Say no to the things that you don’t want to do

Well actually, for a yes man – saying no can be my biggest down fall. Because sometimes we all make things harder than it has to be, ya know? Now I’ve learnt to say no to the 90% to focus in on the 10%. The 10% is usually where the magic happens. Basically: DO YOU! Live life on your terms without compromising your OWN needs at the expense of everyone else’s. It’s okay if you wanna binge watch Gossip Girl on your day off. It’s okay if you’d prefer to focus on building your brand rather than partying. It’s okay to want to elevate you, just how you like too.

3. Trust that there is a process that is happening

Life is full of decisions- so many forks in the road. What road to choose? Should I? Or shouldn’t I? But really? Everything unfolds the way it’s meant too. You have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. When I was 15 I quit dancing to focus on college. When I was at college my attention was occupied in wanting to become an actress. I tried SO hard. & was pretty good. But I never got my ‘big break’. But really,  that was my break. You see; even though I felt way off path I was actually on a journey to something bigger. I never thought that my love for connection, movement and creation would lead me to the place I’m at right now. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. Because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart!

4. Don’t compare yourself to other

In a world where we value like and followers, it’s easy to get caught up and forget your value. To stay in our own lane. But I want to remind you of something; the only person you should ever be comparing yourself to is a past version of yourself. Life isn’t a competition, nor is it a race. Someone else’s success does not dim your light. So what if your best friend has a humongous following? Who cares if Suzy has 3 kids & runs a multi-million dollar business? Stay focused on YOU. Oh and you know what I love: WOMEN SUPPORTING WOMEN. If we work on building each other up, rather than judging one another, we all become stronger together.

5. Listen to books

DISCLAIMER: I started listening to audio books in November. Which is crazy, because I listen to podcasts everyday. But then there’s alllllll these intellectual, self developing, life changing BOOKS that get referenced daily. My excuse? I don’t have the time to read. That’s why the game changer here is audio books. Really. They’re efficient, time effective, relaxing and obviously educational! I mean, doing your makeup? audiobook. Cleaning the apt? audiobook. Walking to yoga? audiobook. Doing something mindless? audiobook. You get it.

6. Patience and practice and persistence

A biiiiig thing yoga has instilled in me is to be patient. To practice your skills regularly. & to persist – no matter what the obstacle. You know, when I first started practicing yoga, downward facing dog was hard, believe me. I couldn’t hold any inversions. Even warrior poses were challenging. But you chip away everyday, slow & steady, carefully, with strong focus. So no, there’s never this HUGE jump. Because nothing happens over-night, NOTHING. You work, you grow, you evolve! & that’s how I believe something bigger than yourself happens—within yoga, careers LIFE. it’s like an hourglass. Slow. Steady. One piece of sand at a time. When the hourglass fills up, you turn it over again & keep chipping away.

7. Life happened for us, not to us.

This year I’ve struggled with my dad’s illness. I’ve struggled to accept it. Then I struggled to care. I’ve struggled to let go of the past. To let go of how’s he’s treated me. I struggled to comprehend how he wasn’t there for us. His family. When we needed him. I felt bitter. Betrayed. Angry. Upset. Like there’s this empty part of me that only his presence could fill.

This was my story.

Then I watched I’m not your Guru by Tony Robbins. Something he said clicked. Life happened for us, not to us. The people in your life play the part they needed to for you to be the person you are today. Let that sit. If you’re struggling, you are not alone. But ultimately, you create the life you deserve. Pain doesn’t have to stop you, it can drive you. It can make you do better and be better. For me, 2019, is all about healing. Because that’s life- the good, the bad, & the ugly. So instead of committing to the trauma, commit to your growth!

8. Don’t forget to enjoy the journey

I love life right now. I’m so happy with what I’ve achieved & for what the future holds. But in this moment, which is all we ever really have anyway, I’m happy. I am loved. I am abundant. I am on FRIKEN FIRE. Please don’t forget to check in daily. Practice gratitude. Appreciate the little break through moments. Show up willing and courageously & enjoy it!

GUYS 2018 HAS BEEN THE BEST! & I just want to say THANK YOU for being a part of it.

ALSO please let me know which posts you enjoyed the most so I can continue to create & document the content YOU like!

Heres to the best 2019 filled with more hustling, health and happiness.
